What is Perfection?

What is perfection? We find several instances in the scriptures which plainly state that we are complete in Him, that we are perfected once and for all. Some says God sees us as perfect even though we are not yet perfect. Is that the truth? If God sees us as perfect that must mean that we are perfect. What other explanation is there?

Perhaps there is something which we haven’t quite yet understood about perfection? Do we judge perfection in accordance with good and evil? Which measuring stick do we use? As far as I can see we are left with only one way of measuring perfection. The three to knowledge of good and evil is definitely excluded in our efforts to provide an answer. What remains is the tree of life.  The tree of life typifies our spirit union with God. Perfection is thus man being joined one Spirit with God. That’s all there is to it.

“Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?”, is the question James poses his readers. Does it? He answers his question by stating: “No fountain can both yield salt water and fresh.” If the source is clean what pours out of the fountain is pure. Who is our source whose water presses its way out of every pore of our being? Who causes us to walk in His ways? With whom are we in a Spirit union? Why does Jesus categorically conclude with that the deeds of the world are evil? (John 3:19, John 7:7). He leaves no room for black and white thinking. And why does He say that the world is the children of the wicked one? (Matt 13:38)

Do we clearly see that everything boils down to spirit-union? Those who belong to the world are in a spirit-union with the wicked one and therefore their deeds are evil. Those who have entered the kingdom through Jesus Christ are perfected on account of their spirit-union with God, and their deeds are righteous. It on this background the Spirit admonishes us to fix our gaze on what is up there, that is, judge everything in accordance with who we are.

What is God doing in your life? Is He trying to convince you about your perfection? Yes, I know that what He says is hard to believe. Every day we are tempted to fix our gaze at circumstances, appearances, conduct and behavior. He convincing us about our perfection might seem like a lost case when our gaze is cast downwards. But, we just continue to believe in the face of every temptation that tries to pull us in the wrong direction. He has promised He will finish what He has begun.

Beautiful Ole, as only you can, thank you so much, please don’t stop bro, you are (G)ifted:
Some time ago, when the Spirit was speaking to me on the topic of perfection/maturity/union, I heard the following verses (much to my surprise) not previously having understood them in this context saying…

‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: OLD men and OLD women shall again SIT (rest/grace) in the streets of Jerusalem (the Church/Ekklessia) each with staff in hand (authority) because of their GREAT AGE. (Zech 8:4)

    And…

‘No longer will there be…an old man who does not live out his days, for the youth will die at the age of ONE hundred (perfection) and the one who does not reach the age of ONE hundred (full union/ONEness) will be lightly esteemed’. (Is 65:20)
