We are ONE!

Adam knew his wife Eve” we read in the Genesis account. In more than one sense this foreshadows the union reality between deity and man. In the case of Adam and Eve male and female became one – two became one. We witness the results of this union all around us. We ourselves are fruits of it. The offspring or the fruit of the union is a blessed mixture of genes passed on from mother and father. In a sense we “know” both of our parents in our existence.

This union of female and male is a shadow of what transpired when the Spirit overshadowed Mary whose fruit was Jesus, the Son of man. The core of the matter is that it is the fruit of the union that is the point. Two becomes one when the child, One, is born. The child is only ONE! Jesus was the first Child, the first of a succession of children who are one. It is in Jesus we first encounter this union of human spirit-self and Divine Person – the child that is One.

It is in this sense Jesus was an example of us. Every new creation is born by the Spirit. On account of this overshadowing human and Deity become one in the child who is you and me. The child is God manifesting Himself in the visible realm. We do not become God, but God becomes us. When we read that God is All in all it connotes that everything in the universe knows God only. In our humanity we know God, and when we knew God we became the child – one. There is only one Person in the universe. That He somehow has “split” Himself in “many parts” – centers of consciousnesses – that are One is beyond our comprehension not least because we are – I am. I “know” that I am – I exist, and God Himself bear witness of my existence.

And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. (John 5:37)

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. (John 14:7)

He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? (John 14:9)

I and my Father are one. (John 10:30)

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one. (John 17:22)

It pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me. (Gal 1:15)

The school of the Spirit is a succession of revelations which we either dismiss or embrace by faith. We face temptations and a variety of adversaries which either ground us in who we are or we allow roots of bitterness to veil our true identity. Those of us who despite giants and other obstacles dare crossing the river and increasingly absorb what we are shown will experience that our consciousnesses are progressively transformed into His likeness, that is, we recognize what has always been true about us, until we one day say as Jesus: I and my Father are one. The pinnacle of faith! To be transformed into His likeness simply means that we “wake up to the fact that I AM HE in my human form, which of course is still just the same “me” I always have been, only now we have pushed back the veil and see with clearer eyes.” (Fred Pruitt) The simple fact is that Christ has always been operative in us from the day of our new birth! We do not suddenly enter the union the day we see it. We, however, come to recognize and “know” what has always been true.

“Having thoroughly learned by the Spirit’s hard knocks who we are not, we are held in absolute safety (with lots of instances of “experiencing” God’s upholding us in troubled waters), and live nothing but this Person Who is All in all in the outflow of the Spirit’s always torrential consuming fire of love.” (Fred Pruitt)

Great article, Ole Henrik! I don’t know about that guy you quoted, though!

How wonderful as Christ reveals Himself in each of us one at a time, over and over and over, all through the ages, and in our time as each of us! What a glory life! It is precisely here in this internal revelation of the Spirit of Christ in us, that we find in ourselves the fulfillment of Eph 2:19-22, and Eph 4:13-16. We have found our “place” in the Body, each of us being the perfect stone fitted perfectly in the Body by the Spirit, each of us perfectly joined with all the others as a corporate Body, all being individually “Christ as us” in our worlds and the whole Body being corporately “He in us” as One Perfect Man, Who is Christ, now living and expressing Himself perfectly in all His cleansed and indwelled vessels. So we no longer seek our “place,” or try to “make unity happen” by our efforts and programs, because we see the Spirit has ALREADY DONE IT! The key to all this is each of us individually knowing Christ within, and us as outer living expressions of the Eternal Invisible God. “This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” (Ps 118:23). Bless you, Ole Henrik, that you find yourself shouting the truth from the housetops!

    Wonderful thoughts indeed Ole.

I love the reality of us being the “femaleness to His maleness” everything He produces we bear, you gotta love that!

Also, when the Word was fully processed and returned to the Father, there was something that was added (brought into) to the Trinity that had not existed before and that was the humanity (our humanity) that Jesus clothed himself with for 33 years.
Letting that soak in you have to just pause and breathe deep the breath of God.

I love that, Richard. Conceiving His children every day! Your last paragraph is awesome. Trinitarian theology mixed with union is dynamite! I am letting that soak in and I am breathing deeply with everything I am.

Without being “crude” but to follow on in your thought about the intimacy of Oneness (and I only mention this because it has been on my mind for a few days) and that is the likeness of the female physical attributes, where a veil prevents consummated intimacy; the veil is removed in vulnerability and receiving, and intimacy is complete.

(We know the physical is the expression of the spiritual)

The veil was rent from above, and if my thoughts are correct, God is both the giver and the receiver (it has concerned me that the veil was rent by God, then if we being the unknowing recipients or unwilling recipients, it would be tantamount to “spiritual rape”) and we know this is not so, so here is what I see then :

Jesus in flesh gave Himself willing and in vulnerability as Man (but as the woman aspect), He was the recipient of the veil of flesh being rent (because we need to understand He did EVERYTHING for us on behalf of us), and in this willingness to be a recipient, He was taking our place whilst we were blind and ignorant (we would never place ourselves in such an open and vulnerable place before a God whom we did not know and were scared witless of)

Having become open and vulnerable for us on behalf of us, He became the recipient of all, and now He leads us to see what is ours because it is His, and in the depths of it, as He is so are we (vulnerable and openly trusting and filled with all spiritual blessings)

Jesus said we could do nothing without Him, and this is true as is the counter truth where in and from this Oneness, the fruit of Spirit is borne, giving life to the world around us as we take this fullness of ours which has been co-received by His trust and our Oneness in the trust (living by the faith of the Son of God)

So there are some “deep” thoughts 🙂
